Blue light (λ=453 nm) nitric oxide dependently induces β-endorphin production of human skin keratinocytes in-vitro and increases systemic β- endorphin levels in humans in-vivo
The described blue light-induced effects that are mediated by bioactive NO-derivates bear a relevant clinical potential to serve as supportive measure in the therapy of several psychiatric disorders. Additionally, due to the positive influence of β-endorphin on the mental state and other psychological parameters of humans, blue light might exert great potential in the home or leisure and sports field.
